Program Description

Event Details

Oak Lawn was settled by European immigrants in the late 1800s who came during the great immigration wave in Chicago. The earliest residents were farmers looking for affordable land near Chicago, where they could sell their crops and livestock. It was a time of rapid growth, great upheaval and change.

Join us for a glimpse of Oak Lawn’s founding families who made Oak Lawn their home in a new Local History exhibit, Founding Families of Oak Lawn. The exhibit is available for viewing beginning Monday, March 23, upstairs in the Local History room.

On Thursday, March 26 we'll host a reception with a speaker and refreshments by the 2nd Floor window area.
