Community Members, please read this important update from Library Director Jim Deiters.

The Story Behind the New Website

Welcome to the new, improved ! Our staff is thrilled to share with you an incredible collection of Library programs/events, resources, services, reviews and recommendations. The revamped website contains many user-friendly features, varied content and photos, and highlights our dynamic learning environment and rich collection of materials. Since the site adapts to any screen size, you'll have the same great user experience on your desktop computer, tablet or smartphone.

During the preliminary stages of the website redesign, our staff thought long and hard about the best format for a new website for our community. OLPL offerings are ever-changing. What you as a patron may be interested in today, could change drastically by next month. Capitalizing on the way individuals consume data, content and visuals in the 21st century, complemented by the number of hours adults, teenagers and even children spend on social media each day, our staff wanted to create a site reminiscent of how consumers absorb information in 2017. What we envisioned is what you see on the new . It's a website our staff is incredibly proud of, and one in which feedback and input was solicited from every department in the library, plus community members.

A catalog button is very visible at the top of the page. Filters and secondary filters are helpful for patrons who know what area of library services they are interested in, or what age group is most applicable. If you are unsure of either of those, utilize the search bar and filter your search via the website, the Library catalog or the Local History Department. And if you're just taking a look at what is new, you'll see vivid photos, program recaps, announcements, recommendations and articles. You might even discover another department or Library service that you were unaware of.

We hope you like what you see! User experience and the function of the website is most important to our staff. To aid in this large change, our staff will be available to help you become familiar with the new features. During the week of June 19, we'll be stationed in the lobby to demonstrate the new site and answer questions. And if you want to tell us more, share your feedback via our survey.

Enjoy exploring the redesigned !
