Have you checked out the OLPL Local History collection online? We’ve come up with a fun quiz that will not only showcase some unique items, but also help you learn how to use Local History resources! Below are the questions as well as some hints on how to find the correct answers. Keep this tab open to refer back to the questions and click here to begin your search!

- A farm on 103rd Street near 52nd Avenue produced what drink that was sold in a store located on Western Avenue in Chicago? (Hint: located in the Local History Collections Database, do a keyword search for Haedtler's ).

- According to this 19th Century map, there were no Native American settlements located in what is now present day Oak Lawn. What is the exact date of this map? (Hint: click on the ‘Explore the Local History Map Collection’ tile on the Local History web page. Find the Native American Map of Cook, DuPage and Will County).

- What is the date of the earliest digitized phone book in the Local History collection? (Hint: click on the ‘Explore the Local History Phone Book Collection’ tile on the Local History web page). What is the date of the first phone book listed?

- Joseph Covington, the namesake of Covington Elementary School, served in what war? (Hint: search “Joseph Covington” in the Local History Collections Database. Use the parentheses to narrow your search).

- Have you ever seen an Oak Lawn themed vacation postcard? Apparently, we used to have a beach! (Hint: click on the ‘Explore the Local History Postcard Collection’ tile on the Local History web page. Go to page two and have a good laugh)!

- How many digitized yearbooks does the Local History database contain? (Hint: look for the ‘Explore the Local History Yearbook Collection’ tile on the Local History web page).

- What was the name of the drive-in theater located at 87th Street and Cicero Avenue? (Hint: located in the Local History Collections Database, do a keyword search for drive in and 87th Street ).

- How many different war memorials have been located in Oak Lawn? (Hint: located in the Local History Collections Database, do a keyword search for war and memorial ).

- Have you seen the current exhibit in the second-floor Local History display area? It’s called Oak Lawn A to Z! (Hint: Click on the ‘Oak Lawn A to Z’ tile on the Local History web page and get a sneak peek with our Flickr digital exhibit). How many photos are in the Flickr album? Don’t forget to visit the library in the future and see ALL of the unique artifacts in the Local History exhibit area!
