Summer Book Discussion

THE WEIR by Conor McPherson

THE WEIR by Conor McPherson

A play's the thing!  In keeping with our summer reading theme (It's Showtime at Your Library!), the first summer discussion for this group will be a play by a well-known Irish playwright. It is a play set in rural Ireland where the pub plays a central role in people’s lives. Ghost stories start being told in an effort to impress a visitor from Dublin. Copies are available at the AYA desk.

“I chose this play because I like ghost stories and the Irish are great at telling them. Another reason is the evocation of the pub as a great place for gossip and comradery. The attempt to impress a big city visitor shows the gulf between the rural and city population. I enjoyed this play!” Kathy
