Title: I, Dissent: Ruth Bader Ginsburg Makes Her Mark
Author: Debbie Levy
Illustrated by: Elizabeth Baddeley
Lexile Level: 710L
Pages: 40 pages
Summary: Ruth Bader Ginsburg is the first Jewish woman appointed to the Supreme Court. RBG (as many refer to her as) is making her mark in history by being disagreeable. As a young girl, she disagreed with the belief that girls should only set their sights on finding a man to marry and raising a family. RBG’s mother helped fuel that belief when she was a young girl by taking her to the library. After Ruth’s mother passed as Ruth was about to graduate high school, Ruth knew she had to go to college – it was want her mother wanted for her. Justice Ginsburg is a remarkable woman and an inspiration for girls and women of all ages.
