Oak Lawn Public Library to reopen to patrons with limited services
The Oak Lawn Public Library is pleased to announce that we will reopen to the public with “grab-and-go”
type services on
Monday, July 13
. We are happy to welcome back our patrons, and we ask you to work with us to ensure everyone’s safety. All decisions made since our closure on March 15 prioritized the health and well-being of our staff and community members.
SAFETY MEASURES FOR PATRONS & STAFFPatrons must wear a mask or face-covering and adhere to social distancing guidelines per policy and the orders of Governor Pritzker and Oak Lawn Mayor Sandra Bury. Hand-sanitizing stations are located throughout the Library and we encourage generous use. Safety shields are installed at every public desk. Restrooms and elevators are accessible to one patron at a time. All materials are quarantined for 3-days before being returned to the shelves. Please use self-check stations and phone reservations to minimize contact.
HOURSThe Cook Avenue (east) entrance to the Library will be open to visitors.
Senior / immune-compromised patron hours : 10-11 a.m. everyday.
Seniors may visit at any time; these hours are reserved to provide an extra window of health and safety for our most vulnerable populations.
Mondays-Thursdays : 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
Fridays and Saturdays : 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Pickup parking slots may be moved toward the Cook Avenue garage area, depending on traffic flow and parking during the reopening.
BOOK & MATERIAL CIRCULATION & RETURNS
Returned books and materials are only accepted at the three outdoor book drops. We will not accept returned items inside the building. The Library is not accepting donations of any kind, including books, CDs, or magazines for the Friends of the Library Book Sale nor items for the local Food Shelters. Fines on all materials are waived.Circulation staff is available via email or phone for account assistance or Interlibrary Loan services. Please call 708-422-4990 (ext.100 or 610). Guests may access shelves and checkout materials, but are discouraged from lasting visits. All digital services are still available, including chat reference at olpl.org and book recommendations at olpl.org/form/kids-find-your-next-read for Youth Services and email@example.com for Adult/Young Adult Services.
Computer services are by appointment only and can be made by calling 708-422-4990, ext. 540. Appointments must be made at least one day in advance and no more than 3 days in advance. A reduced number of public computers are available at one-hour intervals on the 2nd floor for high schoolers and adults. Copiers and fax services are available on a walk-up basis with proper social distancing measures in place.
All Youth Services programs continue to be virtual. Patrons can email YS staff for assistance at firstname.lastname@example.org. All children under high-school age must be accompanied by their guardian at all times.
Areas of the Library that will remain closed: Friends of the Library Bookstore, Local History Room, Teen Room, study rooms, public meeting rooms, and the café.
