Hooray for Hoopla

A new way of accessing materials for the Oak Lawn Community

Dear Readers,

It’s time to introduce you to the newest member of the Oak Lawn Public Library’s digital media family: hoopla! Through hoopla, you can borrow movies, music, audiobooks, eBooks, comics and TV shows to enjoy on your computer, tablet or phone – even your TV! Hoopla has hundreds of thousands of titles to choose from, and more are being added daily. There’s no waiting, and titles can be streamed immediately, or downloaded to phones or tablets for offline enjoyment at a later time. With no holds, this collection is at your fingertips, anytime, anywhere. Each OLPL cardholder receives four downloads a month, which means everyone (including the kiddos) has access to this feature. Stuck in the car on a long family vacation? Hoopla is there! This platform is easy to use and adaptable for every device, including those traditional e-ink readers for those of you who don’t want to read on a shiny screen. You have access to titles we purchase only for Oak Lawn patrons (which has increased exponentially over the past year), but you are also able to borrow from a consortium of over 50 libraries! The best part about eBooks? No fines or lost book fees. On a plane with no Wi-Fi access? Download what you want to your device beforehand and it will be available to you! On the beach or on the go. The hoopla link is searchable through www.olpl.org, or you can search for a particular item at catalog.olpl.org. You can also find out what all the hoopla is about and download the hoopla digital app on your favorite mobile device. Just use your Oak Lawn Public Library card number and password. If you have any other information or questions, your digital media guru is here to help!
