Go Green Grant
Thank you, Economic Awareness Council!
Back in April, our oldest Super STEAM Saturday participants wrote a grant to create a composting experiment. We are happy to report they received $100 from the Economic Awareness Council; in May they started their experiment.
There are many different ways to compost food scraps. They wanted to know what method is most efficient. Six different options were used (sand, worms, top soil, potting soil, bokashi, and nothing was added to the control). Food scraps were evenly distributed among the six sections of the composter. Lettuce, egg shells, banana peels, orange rinds, strawberries and tea bags made up our materials for composting.
During the summer they will be checking in on their compost experiment and we will post photos of its progress. Congrats to all involved!
