The Adult & Young Adult Services Department seeks a forward-thinking, hard-working and creative Librarian who loves to work with the public. This is a full-time 37.5-hour per week “exempt” position with a work schedule consisting of daytime, evening and weekend hours.
The annual salary starts at $45,236.64 per year and is negotiable. An excellent benefits package includes health insurance, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, IMRF pension plan, as well as paid vacation, sick, holiday, and personal business leave.
The Technology Engagement Librarian will connect patrons of all ages in the Oak Lawn community with electronic resources, both inside and outside the Library. The Technology Engagement Librarian will teach computer classes and oversee technology instruction both to the public and to staff.
This position oversees the busy public Computer Center, including supervising and training Library Assistants. The position also requires working at the Computer Center and Adult Services Desks (providing computer assistance and answering reference questions), collection development, budget preparation for the Computer Center, and planning and participating in programming.
The Technology Engagement Librarian will act as a member of the department’s management team and will represent the user’s experience as a member of the automation committee.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited library school is required. Instructional experience is required. Library and supervisory experience is desirable, and being a computer “power user” is essential to this position.
