The Library generally follows the following sequence to fill position vacancies:
In some cases the above methods may be used concurrently to attract a sufficient number of qualified candidates and to expedite filling of positions. The Library does not routinely acknowledge receipt of resumes or applications, but does respond to candidates interviewed under normal circumstances.
Application forms are available on this web site and at the Circulation Desk on the 1st floor. The library receives resumes and applications on a continuing basis as well as in response to external advertisements. Resumes and applications are retained and considered “active” for six months. Applicants who are still interested in employment at the Library after six months have lapsed should submit another resume or application in order to receive continued consideration. Employment Tips to Applicants
1. Carefully complete the entire application form, including addresses and telephone numbers of your current and former employers. Your qualifications will be evaluated based on the information provided. Application forms which are illegible or have missing information may not advance beyond preliminary screening.
2. Clearly indicate the specific position(s) in which you are interested and whether you are seeking full-time and/or part-time employment. Please take time to read the information provided in this web site under Library Positions. If you are seeking part-time employment, please indicate the specific days and times you are available to work as well as the total number of hours per week desired. Please refer to Library Positions for additional information.
3. Remember to sign and date your application form.
Resumes/applications of qualified individuals are forwarded to departments having position openings and will be considered according to indicated qualifications, preferences, and availability. Each department is responsible for selection of candidates for interviews and for interviewing. Only selected applicants shall be contacted. Upon final selection of a candidate for a position, candidates not selected shall be informed by the Human Resources Coordinator. A reference check shall be performed (by the department supervisor and/or the Human Resources Coordinator) of the candidate selected. Emplyment is contingent on passing the criminal background check.
